This space was dedicated to the life and work of Monsenhor Joaquim Alves Brás, who was born here in 1899. The evocation of the figure through a combination of objects that accompanied his day to day life, documents and photographs that witnessed his work, materialised at the Obra de Santa Zita and at the Instituto Secular das Cooperadoras da Família. House of Honey

House of Honey

Run by Pinus Verde, the House of Honey (Casa do Mel) is a support and meeting point for bee-keepers of the region, and also an interpretive area about honey, for the general public. This area has multimedia equipment, a “visible” beehive and tastings. Its only open during the honey collection and treatment works (Spring and Summer).

Centre of Interpretation of Argemela

Even though the focus has been on the history of mining at Cabeço or the Argemela Mountain Range, and the historic geology that led to the formation of its mineral deposits, this interpretative centre has the characteristics of a true site museum or eco-museum, with a strong connection to the local community, addressing themes that are related to personalities born at Barco, to traditional music, demographic evolution and traditional technologies connected by multiple activities developed in this village. The Centre is equipped with a very complete database, with documents and articles from referenced authors that served as support for the elaboration of the contents presented at the exhibition permanently.

Centre of Interpretation of Prehistoric Art of Poço do Caldeirão

Housed in an old 18th Century manor house, the Casa Grande da Barroca, its contents include the representations and informative elements and the interpretation of prehistoric art examples existing in Poço do Caldeirão, situated on the shores of the River Zêzere. Barroca Grande Mining Museum

This place was born due to the will and work of one man, José Luiz Campos, mayor and worker at the Panasqueira mines, that along the years collected equipment, photographs and various documentation, not only related to the extracting activity, but also from the social life and local ethnography. Part of the collection is displayed in a construction also of his authorship, which from an old fuel deposit represents a gasometer.
