Mills

The stream that has the name Alforfa, gets the name of Unhais stream from here. It is a typical mountainous watercourse in which, upstream or downstream of the town there were several watermills, one of which has been recovered by the Parish Council, located on the fluvial beach.

Ethnographic Museum

The collection of this space is essentially made up of ethnographic objects related to agricultural and domestic activities and local trades. However, at S. Jorge da Beira, deeply connected to the Panasqueira mines, exist tools, artefacts and geological and mineralogical samples that take us back in time.

Casa Museu Marmelo e Silva

José Marmelo e Silva, self defined himself as a writer that did not write to sell books; a sentence reveals a singular man, in personality and in writing. This typical house of Paúl is particularly appropriate for his evoking, since few have described the region and the river so well as himself. His house is a space for reading, discovering or rediscovering his writing, to get to know him through his books and objects.

House of Bombo (Drum)

The art of making and playing bombos (drums), a very embedded tradition in this region, is evoked here. Percussion in the traditional Portuguese music is equally focused through singularities and differences of the various instruments. The space promotes workshops and works directly with various bombos groups that exist in the region.

Janeiro de Cima has a strong connection and experience with the Zêzere. The House of the Boatman (Casa do Barqueiro) evokes the passage of boats, the know-how related to the construction of these vessels and the traditional fishing art.

The Weaving House

The Weaving House

The Fundão Municipality has began creating a series of thematic museum centres, related to the knowledge and practices, particularly expressed in the settlements where they are located. Each of the centres gets the name of “casa”, meaning home. The Casa das Tecedeiras (The Weaving House) not only keeps the memory of traditional weaving, but also work spaces where through workshops, this art is created and reinvented.

Rod-press Mill

Rod-press Mill

A monumental wine press with three presses whose arms are made up of three trunks, possibly from chestnut trees. It also had a hydraulic mechanism made up of a watermill wheel. From the end of the XIX century, it is located in a perfect environment, in an olive grove, on the edge of the water, near the swimming pools of Erada.

Forest School

Forest School

Under the responsibility of Queiró – Forest Association, the Forest School takes place in an old primary school, with an exhibition space about the local forest species and an auditorium. It is intended for to host events, training sessions and school visits about the forestry issues.
